Before moving to Los Alamos last spring, I spent 11 years being a summer student and actual employee at Argonne National Laboratory. At one point they went through a very important branding exercise that gave the lab its current representative image, but before that they had this thing as their logo. Some have described it as resembling a rude body position, but I think it is just a logo that didn't age well.
