Craig's Destruction

Last Friday night, this was part of my basement. Our cleaning company (who will go unnamed for now, but will likely be named loudly later) left the house on Friday with an overflowing toilet bowl and a stuck flapper. Also, for extra bonus points, they left a gas burner on the stove open, with no flame. This was shortly after 9AM.

Throughout the day, my house slowly filled up with water and gas. My neighbor noticed the smoke alarms going off (from the gas, no doubt) almost immediately after the cleaning crew left. He called the police, but they couldn't do anything and didn't know how to reach me.

When Tisha got home just after 7, she was faced with this. A house full of gas, four yelling and frightened cats (who were otherwise unharmed, thankfully), a fine coating of water on every floor upstairs, and a torrential downpour in the rec room downstairs.

The ceiling caved in just before 8. You can see part of it hanging from my treadmill. All of this got rained on.

Now my house is pretty much gutted. Upstairs all the floors are pulled, as it all needed replacing. Downstairs has all the drywall pulled. The furniture's moved out, and we're living in an apartment for two moths while this gets fixed.

The cleaning company denies any responsibility.

Ryan's "Destruction"

Maddy was playing with Jenga blocks and getting likkered up . This eventually led to all manner of destruction:

Cory's Destruction

I don't know what happened to this road sign, but I can say with great certainty that it is now destroyed.

Cory's Parties

We had a bunch of people in the house this weekend, which led to lots of parties. Here's one where we all took cameras and pointed them at each other at the same time, making an inverted 360 degree view of the room. This out-of-focus one was my contribution.

Here's the full circle:
Lis - Ryan - Kelcey - Jenny - Cory

Mike's "Parties"

As I might have mentioned, my workplace, Senior Market Sales celebrates St. Patrick's Day Week. They have contest for best dressed, best cubical decorations, best score in Wii Rock band. Its a bit nuts, but I took my camera a few days.

This is Bob. I'm not certain he knew what the Pope was going to say about Irish priests this week or not.

This construction started on Friday the 12th and then because Allmakes was coming in on the 18th, the whole set of 60 work spaces was struck on the afternoon of the 17th. Amazingly, some work still got done!

Ryan's "Parties"

While wandering the I&M Canal trail, Cory and I found evidence of parties.

Please excuse the Gaussian blurs on the pill bottle....

You're welcome, Craig.

Craig's Parties

I'm cheating this week. This picture is from a Christmas party.

I was going to take pictures of a party at my house on Friday night, but instead we got home to find our house essentially destroyed.

I hope next week's topic is something destructive, because I've got that sewn up.

Ryan's "Parts"

Some parts have a limited lifespan. According to Volkswagen, these plugs should be changed every 40,000 miles. I'm not so sure - they don't look too bad. A bit of regapping and they would have been good for another 10k at least.

Spendy little things, too.

Mike's "Parts"

North of Fremont on Highway 75 is this old barn that looks like a junk yard except it has house parts instead of car parts. It has been there since I was a little kid.
I remember seeing it when ever we would go the "The Farm" via Fremont. I think we even stopped there once to try and fix the car or something.

Cory's Parts

A little under four years ago, I replaced the two rear brake cylinders in the Beetle. After doing it, I set the two old ones in a corner of the garage and didn't touch them again. I saw them there a few times over the next couple of years, but after they had been there for a while I decided I couldn't move them from their resting place. And they're still there, just two parts rusting in a disused corner of the garage.

Craig's Parts

We celebrated a belated Christmas with my in-laws this weekend. My nephew got the most awesome chess set ever.

He doesn't know how to play chess -- he's only four. He loves it for its parts.

Next week (by special request) - "Parties"

The mother of 3/5 of this blog says that the logical progression from "art" to "parts" must end in "parties."

"Parts" due tomorrow!

Q's art

Ryan's "Art"

Art, they say, is in the eye of the beholder:

Last week was my last week of working at Argonne before moving across the country, so I finally took my gear in to take some pictures in the tunnels beneath our machine room. Our network guy is also a band leader and was happy to be my subject in exchange for promo material. When we were done, Loren said "Man, that's art!" So here it is: art.

Mike's "Art"

This is an example of a neo-modern aerosol enamel painting.
I did not find out if this was a stationary or traveling exhibit, but it can currently be seen at the intersection of 15th and Nicholas. It could cost you some loose change.
